Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) is expanding its reach across Botswana by introducing a new advanced website.

The new interactive website lets users compare internet packages, manage their BTC account online instead of going to BTC stores to get help, and purchase routers & smartphones on the BTC website. It allows the user to compare the differences in mountain snow depth from one season to the next and create a graphic of their results.

Peeping under the hood, the new website is powered by the open-source content management system WordPress. It looks like the site is using the Yoast SEO plugin for search engine optimization (SEO), as well as Google Tag Manager for analytics. According to research, 37.8% of all the websites run on WordPress. This translates to over 70 million sites. For brand visibility, and with such statistics, it goes without saying that they made the right choice to be powered by WordPress.

Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTC) is a Botswana Stock Exchange Limited (BSEL) listed communications service provider offering fixed (voice and data), mobile (voice and data), and broadband services to individual consumers, enterprises, and other licensed service providers. BTC is the third-largest of Botswana’s three operators in subscriber terms.

Botswana, whose population is around 2.25 million, has one of the highest mobile penetration rates in Africa, estimated at over 150 percent (or around 3.4 million), due to high levels of SIM ownership.
