Botswana Government purchase Tautona Lodge for P58 million

Botswana’s Minister of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Kabo Morwaeng, has told parliament when answering a question from Leader of Opposition, Dumelang Saleshando that the Botswana government has bought through direct Appointment, Tautona Lodge (Pty) Ltd for P58, 240,000 million from a company called Horseshoe Ranches (Pty) Ltd.

The Minister could not answer on the floor of Parliament who the owner of the company the government bought the lucrative lodge from is. From investigation, we searched the CIPA company database website which showed that the company was bought from former Minister of Agriculture and ruling BDP MP for Ghanzi South, Christian De Graaf. Tautona Lodge was a registered business name by Horseshoe Ranches Proprietary Limited which has since been dissolved after the purchase, for which the government of Botswana registered it as an independent company called Tautona Lodge Proprietary Limited (Company Number: BW00003222403).

Tautona Lodge company director

SPEDU’s former Director of Investment Promotion and Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC)’s former executive chairperson, Louis Sibanda, shared a picture of Tautona Lodge CIPA screenshots and the director’s funeral programme highlighting that the company’s director has deceased last month July.
