Property investor buys 50% shareholding in Pie City

Competition & Consumer Authority has assessed a proposed acquisition of 50 percent shareholding in Pie City by a property investor, Abhi Arora. Pie City is one of Botswana’s biggest producers of flour-based food such as bread and pies. The company has been incorporated in accordance with the Laws of the Republic of Botswana by the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA). Pie City does not control any enterprise. It sells pies, pizzas, fruit juices, soft drinks, water, energy drinks, and soft serve ice cream at stores.

Its shareholders before the acquisition were Hugh Crawford Ross, Johanna Magdalena Mass, Paul Humphrey Maas, and Coral Ann Ross. Pie City has retail outlets in Gaborone, Kanye, Lobatse, Palapye, Molepolole, and Mogoditshane.

The acquisition was a success and its current shareholders as of August 2022 are Hugh Crawford Ross, Johanna Magdalena Mass, Paul Humphrey Maas, Coral Ann Ross, and Abhi Arora.
