Tlotso Karema’s murder accused, Lovemore Sithole, applies for bail

On August 11, Lovemore Sithole, who is accused of murder, will learn the outcome of his bail application.

Sithole requested bail when he appeared for a status hearing before Lobatse Magistrate Kaveri Kapeka on July 27 despite concerns from the prosecution for his safety.

He asked to be released on bail after the prosecution requested to keep him in custody because he might obstruct ongoing investigations.

Sithole stated in his plea for bail that he was the only supporter of his family and that his release on bail would not affect the investigations.

“I will not interfere with the investigations. They know where I stay and they have seized my passport. My vehicle is also impounded by the police. I will fully cooperate with the police” he said

In response to Sithole’s application, the prosecutor, Ms. Tamela Mbulawa, said that the prosecution still stood by the justifications put up in the last hearing, which asked for Sithole to be kept on remand.

Ms. Mbulawa also mentioned that it was difficult to predict when the investigations would likely be finished because they were determined to meticulously examine every piece of available evidence.

She stated that the investigation team was awaiting the results of exhibits from the police forensic laboratory as well as the testimony of certain potential witnesses who had yet to be interviewed.

According to the accuser, Tlotso Karema was killed on March 18 between Molapowabojang and Lobatse.
