Verbosec Secures BOCRA License, Boosting Botswana’s Digital Infrastructure Through Starhost Expansion

Verbosec, a Botswana-based technology company specializing in cloud hosting, cybersecurity, and AI-driven solutions, has secured official accreditation and licensing from the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA). The approval marks a key regulatory step forward, enabling the firm to broaden its Starhost platform and offer fully compliant hosted services to entrepreneurs, startups, small and medium enterprises, and larger institutions throughout the country.

Starhost provides seamless access to global domain names including the national .bw domain alongside secure, scalable hosting, enterprise-grade remote offsite backups, and robust infrastructure built for performance and resilience. By lowering technical and compliance barriers, the platform enables digital creators and businesses to move quickly from concept to live product while maintaining complete ownership and control of their online presence and data.

The licensing positions Verbosec to play a central role in Botswana’s digital transformation journey, supporting national priorities around affordable connectivity, innovation, and economic diversification under Vision 2036.

Henry Newman, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Verbosec, commented:

“This BOCRA accreditation is a major step forward for Verbosec and the wider Botswana digital ecosystem. It gives us the green light to deeply integrate AI-driven optimisation, advanced cloud capabilities, and data intelligence into Starhost tools that let local entrepreneurs scale intelligently and securely. We’re building African-led technology that strengthens national digital sovereignty, accelerates responsible AI adoption, and creates sustainable opportunities for communities and businesses nationwide. Africa does not need to imitate the future we must build it ourselves, and this license brings us closer to that vision.”

The company’s proprietary Verbosec Cloud infrastructure, which underpins Starhost, is scheduled for wider public release in the coming months, promising improved performance, enhanced security features, and greater cost efficiency for cloud-native workloads.

Verbosec has stated its ongoing alignment with BOCRA’s objectives of promoting trustworthy, accessible, and innovative communications services across Botswana.
